How does emotional baggage affect you?

Emotional baggage is something we all carry to varying degrees. It can include unresolved emotions, difficult life experiences, childhood programming, grief, disappointment or trauma that was never fully processed.

When life becomes overwhelming, our mind and body often protect us by setting difficult emotions aside so we can continue functioning. In many situations, that's exactly what we need to do in the moment.

The challenge is that "later," the time when we finally return to process those experiences, often never comes.

Instead, those unresolved emotional experiences can continue influencing how we think, feel and respond without us even realizing it. They can shape our relationships, our stress levels, our confidence, the choices we make and the way we experience everyday life.

Emotional Triggers Often Point to Something Deeper

We hear the word trigger all the time, and most of us know exactly what it feels like.

Maybe it's road rage.
Maybe it's an argument with your spouse or children.
Maybe it's a difficult conversation at work.
Maybe it's the news.
Maybe it's another relationship that seems to bring out the same emotional response every time.

Think about a moment when you felt triggered.

Your emotions escalated.
Your body reacted.
Your thoughts accelerated.
You said or did something you later wished you'd handled differently.

Then came the guilt, frustration or second-guessing.

While every situation is unique, emotional triggers often invite us to ask a deeper question:

"What is this reaction trying to protect OR what is this trying to show me?"

Sometimes the answer isn't today's situation alone. Sometimes it's years of accumulated emotional experiences, protective patterns or unresolved emotions that are still influencing how we respond.

What Happens When We Process Emotional Baggage?

Imagine experiencing that same situation without the intense emotional charge attached to it. The memory may still exist. The lessons you've learned remain. But the emotional weight no longer feels like it's controlling your response.

Many people describe feeling lighter, calmer and more present. They often notice they have more space to pause, think clearly and choose how they want to respond instead of reacting automatically.

Rather than fighting against your subconscious, you begin to appreciate that it has been trying to protect you using the best information it had at the time. As those old emotional patterns are acknowledged and released, many people find they no longer need the same protective responses.

The Mind and Body Are Connected

Our emotional well-being and physical well-being are closely connected.

Many people notice that unresolved emotional experiences don't just affect their thoughts and relationships, they may also contribute to feeling emotionally exhausted, mentally overwhelmed or constantly "on."

Some clients also report improvements in physical discomfort as they work through emotional healing. While every person's experience is different, addressing unresolved emotional baggage can become an important part of supporting overall emotional wellness.

How Emotion Code Fits In

Emotion Code is a gentle method of communicating with the subconscious to identify and release trapped emotions that may be contributing to emotional stress and recurring patterns.

One of the unique aspects of Emotion Code is that you do not need to relive or describe painful experiences in order to release trapped emotions. While memories or insights sometimes come to mind naturally, sharing them is always your choice.

As a Certified Emotion Code Practitioner (CECP), I provide a gentle, supportive space to help clients identify and release trapped emotions while developing greater awareness, self-trust and emotional resilience.

Healing isn't about forgetting your past.

It's about understanding what you've been carrying, honoring the lessons you've learned and discovering that you may no longer need to carry the emotional weight of those experiences.

Emotion Code is a gentle method of communicating with the subconscious to identify unresolved emotions that are ready to be released.

Every session begins by asking your subconscious where it would like to start. We simply ask for enough information to identify the emotion that is ready to be released—nothing more unless you would like to explore further. Your subconscious serves to protect you and guides the process, prioritizing what is appropriate to work on during each session.

One of the unique aspects of Emotion Code is that you do not need to relive or share painful memories for the process to be effective. Sometimes memories or insights naturally come to mind, and if you choose to share them, our conversations remain brief, supportive and completely confidential.

Once a trapped emotion has been identified, we use a magnet to make several passes over the Governing Meridian, an energy pathway described in Traditional Chinese Medicine, to support the release of the trapped emotional energy.

Emotion Code sessions can be completed in person, by phone or by proxy, making them accessible regardless of where you live.

We continue identifying and releasing trapped emotions until either the session concludes or your subconscious indicates that enough work has been completed for the day. This allows the process to unfold at a pace that supports your individual needs.

After your session, you'll receive a summary of the trapped emotions released along with your session notes by email, unless you prefer not to receive them.

FAQs

How often can I do a session?

Sessions can be scheduled up to 2 times per week with any given client. However, at the conclusion of every session we will ask your subconscious how many days your body needs to process the releases. Again, we respect the subconscious and allow it to lead. On average, clients need between 1-5 days to process releases.
